It’s time for my Summer Beauty Favourites! Since I always take the Summer off of blogging, I decided that instead of doing a monthly favourites for August, I would combine July and August and just share what I’ve been loving over Summer.
I don’t know about you, but when Summer comes around I find myself going for lighter makeup and brighter colours. I’ve been obsessed with coral blush, pinky coral lipstick, a light wash of glowy foundation. I may be pale as paper, but I like to not look like a vampire for the short amount of time Summer actually happens in the UK hahaha!!
I’ve also been trying new products and found some new Holy Grails! SO, let’s get into what I’ve been loving recently!
DISCLAIMER: YES STYLE, SPACE NK JOHN LEWIS LINKS ARE AFFILIATE, NO OTHERS ARE. ALL ITEMS PURCHASED BY ME.
GIORGIO ARMANI LUMINOUS SILK FOUNDATION – £42 from Look Fantastic
Oh my gosh, why did I wait SOOOOOO long to try this foundation?! It’s amazing! It wears for hours and still looks fabulous, it looks great on the skin, it looks healthy, radiant, just beautiful!
If you’ve followed me for a while, then you’ll know that my absolute favourite foundation was the Armani Power Fabric. I still love that so much, but Luminous Silk is fast creeping up on it!
I’ve found myself wearing it almost non stop over Summer. I wore it for my friend’s wedding too and it looked great all day. This foundation can take anything you throw at it!
I also love how it wears away. I can wear this for 16 hours and it never looks heavy or cakey. At about 14 hours it starts to wear away, but it’s like magic. It sinks in to the skin, but doesn’t look obvious on the skin.
KEVYN AUCOIN FOUNDATION BALM – £42 from Space NK
At the opposite end of the spectrum coverage wise, if this Foundation Balm from Kevyn Aucoin. I typically don’t like full coverage foundations, but you can apply a thin layer of this and it looks beautiful.
I am not normally one to make impulse purchases, but I saw a video on YouTube about this foundation and I went straight online and ordered it. It’s unlike anything I’ve used before. It looks like a pot of concealer… it comes with a little brush. Small, but amazing, you gently dab the brush into the foundation and off you go applying it.
This covers EVERYTHING in one swipe. It’s incredible. It didn’t look heavy (I applied a thin layer and then assessed if I needed to build it up – I didn’t!) and I didn’t even need concealer!! I didn’t need to set this foundation either, it just stayed in place and didn’t move for 10 hours!
When this starts to wear off, it does become visible on the skin, you can see it getting a little patchy. It isn’t the longest wearing foundation I own, but I love how it makes my skin look. It’s somehow matte, but life like. It is just beautiful and I’d highly recommend you try some!
MAC LOVE ME LIPSTICK – £17.50 from MAC
When I first saw that MAC were coming out with a new lipstick I was so excited! I bought one to begin with, fell in love with the formula and then bought two more. These lipsticks have the most amazing satin finish. They’re opaque, creamy and the packaging is gorgeous too!
I would say they are somewhere between a Cremesheen and an Amplified formula wise.I wasn’t sure if these were permanent or not, but the lady in my local MAC store said they are permanent. I really hope they keep releasing more shades in this formula as it’s gorgeous.
HOURGLASS ARCH BROW MICRO SCULPTING PENCIL – £26 from Space NK
I cannot tell you how much I adore this eyebrow pencil. I have a hard time finding the right colour for me as I’m fair, but my eyebrows are very cool. My hair is golden light brown and warm, but if I put a warm shade on my brows it looks horrific.
I am not a brow expert by any means and they are the scariest part of makeup application for me (LOL) as I can usually get one looking really good and never get the other one right. I know brows are meant to be sisters and not twins, but mine don’t even look related!
So, when I saw that Hourglass were releasing a micro pencil I knew I had to try it. It gives you loads of control and is very easy to use. I haven’t had any bad eyebrow days since I got this pencil and the colour is perfect! I got Soft Brunette and it’s a cool, fair brown.
When we were getting ready for my friend’s wedding the other week everyone was using this and saying how much they loved it and they were going to buy it. It lasts all day, doesn’t budge, is easy to use and looks natural. Definitely gone right in at Holy Grail status for me!
MILANI BAKED BLUSHES – £10 from Beauty Bay
I’d wanted to try these blushes for ages as I kept hearing how amazing they were. Well, let me tell you. They are FABULOUS! Well worth £10. They blend beautifully, last all day, are easy to work with… just beautiful! They have become a firm favourite and since I bought them I’ve pretty much worn no other brand of blush!
I got one of these blushes to try to start with, fell in love, wore nothing but for weeks and then bought 5 more haha. I now have six of these stunning blushes and I hope they continue to release more colours because I’ll be buying them.
I’ve actually been impressed with Milani in general. I just got one of their gel powder eye shadows and it’s stunning, so I ordered 5 more. I’m obsessed haha!
ETUDE HOUSE SOON JUNG pH6.5 WHIP CLEANSER – £12.99 from Yes Style
This cleanser is a great gentle cleanse. It is foamy, but it’s the pump that foams it up, it’s not full of foaming ingredients. If you shake the bottle it’s all liquid in there.
This has no scent, doesn’t leave your skin dry, no tightness, I’ve had no reaction to it, I’ve started using this every day and my skin is looking lovely and clear. I use it as my second cleanse when I’m wearing makeup, but if I’m not then I just use this. It does a great job of cleaning my skin without stripping it of its oils.
I’ve already ordered a back up of this because I’ve fallen head over heels for it! I’m someone that prefers to keep my cleanser, toner and moisturiser plain and then use a serum to target certain things. I alternate my retinol, vitamin c, EGF etc. and it seems to work best for my skin. If you’re someone who wants your cleanser to be anti aging then this probably isn’t for you, but I adore it!
And there we have it, my Summer Beauty Favourites! As the days get shorter and cooler, my makeup preferences will probably change to more plums and mauves. Although I love Summer makeup, Autumn is my favourite season, so I can’t wait to switch up my makeup and for all the new makeup to be released as it ramps up for Christmas!
