If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that I love a Giorgio Armani face product. Their Luminous Silk foundation has been my holy grail foundation for ages, so when I saw that Armani were releasing a Neo Nude Glow Foundation I knew I had to try it.
The Neo Nude range is the “no makeup makeup” range from Armani. The products in this range are meant to be super natural and perfect what you already have.
The Neo Nude Glow Foundation is the newest addition to the range. I ordered it the morning it came out on John Lewis and have been trying it ever since. I’ve tested it applying it differently and with different primers to really put it to the test.
So, let’s get into my thoughts!

COST
The Giorgio Armani Neo Nude Glow Foundation is £32 for 35ml. This works out to be around 90p per ml.
This product is not advertised as something you can build to full coverage, it’s meant to be sheer/natural, so I use a pea sized amount to cover my face. You get 35ml in this tube over the normal 30ml you get with foundations, so I think this will last a good while.
PACKAGING
The Neo Nude Glow Foundation comes in a squeezy tube. It’s super sleek and the cap is very sturdy. It clicks shut and doesn’t allow any product to leak. I’m all for a sleek looking frosted glass bottle, but this type of packaging is much more travel friendly.
Armani have done a good job of making this squeezy tube feel and look as high end as they can. It feels nice and thick, not flimsy and cheap and the cap fits well.
There does seem to be quite a bit of air in my tube. I’m not sure if everyone’s is the same, mine splatters a little bit when I squeeze it; if I shake it it doesn’t really help as the product is quite thick.
SHADE RANGE
This foundation comes in 24 shades, one of which looks straight up white. I can’t find whether this is a skin changing shade or one to lighten other shades or just for the palest of pale. It seems a big jump between 0 and 1.5 and I mean, I’m lily white, but even I’m not as white as shade 0. I can’t find anything about why there’s a straight up white!
24 shades is really good actually, I do wish there was a shade in between 0 and 1.5 as 1.5 is a hair too dark for me.
There’s an even spread of light, medium and dark and the darkest shade is pretty darn dark which is great. I personally find Armani foundations run a bit warm. Every product I’ve tried, I’ve bought in their “neutral” shades, but they are always quite yellowy. Just something to be aware of.
Since this formula is sheer, the colour is much more forgiving, so with 24 shades, I’m sure you’ll find something.
This is shade 1.5, It looks pretty warm and dark on my hand. My face is more neutral and darker than my hand, but this is a tad too warm for me. Blended out it looks fine as it’s sheer, but I would prefer it to be slightly more neutral. You can also see the consistency; it’s quite thick.
CLAIMS
- Hybrid foundation that instantly refreshes and hydrates the skin
- Gives a natural glow
- Infused with hyaluronic acid and glycerine to provide hydration throughout the day
- Buildable coverage
- Lightweight
- Fresh texture which allows the skin to breathe
I do find this foundation hydrating, it doesn’t cling to any dry patches and it doesn’t dry my skin out at all, be that throughout the day or after prolonged use over a number of days. My skin always feels comfortable and hydrated.
The finish is definitely natural, more on the matte natural finish for me when I first apply it. Later on it gets quite glowy when my natural oils start peeking through.
The next claim is basically another way of wording the first claim, so yes it’s definitely hydrating.
The coverage is somewhat buildable. You’re not going to get full coverage with this, but it does layer well. I’ve put 2 layers on and it doesn’t cake up or look heavy. You can get a good light, almost erring on medium finish. It’s very perfecting on the skin. It’s smooth and easy to work with.
I definitely agree that it feels lightweight on the skin, it fells like you’re wearing nothing and I do think it lets my skin breate. The texture, while thick, is refreshing on the face.
APPLICATION AND WEAR TEST
I’ve applied this foundation using a brush, my fingers and a sponge and it turns out beautifully every time. I prefer to apply with a brush, but that’s not just with this product, it’s with all foundations.
With your fingers it glides on, but I find I need to do a good bit of blending on my nose, otherwise it kind of smears. Everywhere else it’s really easy to blend with fingers.
Using a brush makes blending this a cinch, super quick and easy and it looks flawless.
With a sponge, you get lighter coverage, as is normal with a damp sponge, but it is still easy to blend and looks seamless on the skin.
I’ve tried this foundation with the Urban Decay All Nighter Primer, the Laura Mercier Perfecting Primer and the Fenty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Primer and it wears beautifully with all of them. The Urban Decay is the longest wearing primer I own, but with this foundation I find it comparible with the other two primers on wear time.
This is not the most long wearing foundation I own, but I can get a good 12 hours out of it, so if you’re looking for a lightweight foundation perfect for every day and work, then this would be perfect for a “normal” 8 hour day.
Luminous Silk wears about 16 hours on me for comparison. However, this is so perfect for the warmer weather and I find myself reaching for it over and over again at the moment. Even after 12 hours, it isn’t beyond help and needing to be removed, it just becomes slightly more noticeable on the skin and needs to be reblended.
I also tried the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder on top of it and that didn’t alter how it looked on my skin. It still looked natural on the skin, it’s just after 12 hours it starts to separate around my nose and on my chin. Everywhere else it doesn’t move.

OVERALL THOUGHTS
I LOVE this foundation! Armani have done it again and nailed another complexion product. This is so perfect for the warmer months as it’s so lightweight on the skin. I also love lighter coverage in the Summer, so I know I’ll be wearing this all Summer long. It always looks beautiful on the skin and wears well on me.
It somehow manages to perfect my skin while making it look like I have nothing on. I’ve been dealing with a lot of acne and texture recently and, no this doesn’t cover all my acne, that’s what I use concealer for, but it evens out my skin and doesn’t cling to the dry patches of healing acne. It also glides over my pores, texture and doesn’t emphasize any of it.
I was so excited when I saw Armani were releasing this foundation and I’m so glad it wasn’t a disappointment. If you are on the look out for a new Summer foundation, then I would highly recomment you try out this Neo Nude Glow Foundation!
