Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Primer Review

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Hydrating Primer Review | Annie's Noms

Happy Thursday folks! Today I’m sharing my review on the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Primer!

This primer came out a little while ago along with the Hydrating Foundation and since it’s getting colder here, I was on the lookout for a hydrating primer as my skin is getting a little dry and flaky.

The foundation is another story… there’s 50 shades and I tried in 4 different shops with different lighting to find a shade and I couldn’t find one. Such a pity as I’ve heard great things about it. However, I was still excited to try the Pro Filt’r Hydrating Primer and it turns out I was right to be!

Now let’s get into my review!

COST

The Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Primer is £24 for 30ml

Cost per ml is £0.80

For a more high end brand, I think £24 is a reasonable price. It works out much cheaper than a lot of my other primers.

PACKAGING

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Hydrating Primer Review | Annie's Noms

This primer comes in a frosted glass bottle with a pump and lid. It feels nice and weighty, the pump doesn’t spatter and the plastic doesn’t seem cheap or flimsy. It looks sleek and minimalist which I really like.

CLAIMS

  • Lightweight
  • Instantly nourishing
  • Silky smooth formula
  • Keeps skin comfortable all day
  • Extends foundation wear
  • Fast absorbing

For once, I’m going to say I actually agree with all of the claims! This primer feels very lightweight, hydrating, smoothing and absorbs quickly. Your skin really does feel comfortable after and ready for foundation!

I find that this primer keeps my foundation looking great for hours and hours, so it really does extend the life of my foundation.

REVIEW

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Hydrating Primer Review | Annie's Noms

The Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Primer is light pink gel like lotion with a slight scent. It’s not overpowering, it smells like a face cream. Something to note if you don’t like fragrance. I am picky about fragrance, but this primer smells great. The smell doesn’t linger on the skin for too long either.

This primer is quite thick, it’s not one where you can use a tiny bit and spread it over your whole face, I find that wherever you put it, it kind of sticks there and you can move it a little bit, but not much.

I’ve got primers where you can get away with using a tiny amount, but this is not one of them. I find I need 3 pumps for cover my face, so I reckon I’ll be going through this relatively quickly.

Now lets talk about how it wears. I have combination skin; an oily t-zone, with dry cheeks. I also get dry flakes on my chin, forehead and around my nose.

I’ve tried this under 6 different foundations, numerous times and it always looks fabulous. My foundation always goes on smoothly and easily and never looks cakey. It really does help with dry flakes as I’ve found my foundations aren’t clinging to those patches I didn’t know I had.

If you have a big flake of skin, of course it will still be visible, but it is very hydrating. It stays slightly tacky until you put foundation on it and I can honestly say that I haven’t had to touch up any foundation I’ve worn over this for at least 12 hours. Sometimes not at all. It looks flawless all day.

My concealers also wear well over this primer. I often have to give my chin a bit of a re blend throughout the day, but with this primer I don’t have to until a lot later in the day, if at all. I used the Too Faced Born this Way concealer once over this and didn’t have to touch it all day. My Nars Radiant Concealer needed one touch up, as did my Estee Lauder Double Wear.

I have totally fallen in love with this primer! It’s fantastic, I can’t believe how well my foundation lasts when I have this on! It’s fabulous. My foundation never pools in my pores, it never looks heavy and it doesn’t start to separate until it’s been on for about 14 hours, by which time I’m ready to take my makeup off!

If you’ve been thinking of trying this I highly recommend it! I think it would be great for normal, combo and dry skin types. I’m not sure how well it would last with true oily skin as I don’t have it, but Fenty do make a mattifying primer as well.
