How To Treat Yourself as a Busy Mom

19.5.23 By Annie N

Being a busy mom never ends. Raising a child is a round the clock job. Even when you’re trying to sleep in the middle of the night there’s no guarantee of a break. That can make it very hard to treat yourself at least once a week; a bit of self care is necessary to a happy life! But what can you do? How can you squeeze in a bit of peace and quiet? Here are some ideas that might do the trick.

Stay in with a Friend

It’s hard to arrange a night out when you’ve got kids – we all know that! It’s why you should think about inviting a friend around instead, on a night when your parents can take the little ones or when they’re off for a sleepover elsewhere.

Invite a friend or two over, make sure there’s plenty of food on the table, and then sip wine all night long if you like. Put something fun on the TV, try out a new activity together, or simply sit and gossip like you haven’t been able to in ages!

Invest in Luxury Skincare

You probably already go through a nighttime routine before bed. For many busy moms, this means scrubbing your face and rubbing in a bit of moisturizer to make the process move fast.

So, if you want to treat yourself, invest in some luxury products. Something like aesop that’s amazing for the skin, or a cleanser and toner that’ll help you glow. You can still use these products efficiently and easily and be able to hit the hay at your usual time.

Buy Something Sugary

Sugary sweets and treats have long been a great way to pamper yourself. And don’t worry, if you buy a doughnut or bake yourself a cake, it’s not going to break your diet! You can have a slice or a few bites of a pudding, relax on the sofa and watch some Netflix, or take it to the bathroom with you while you slip into a bathtub filled with bubbles. What could be better for you once the kids are in bed and you’ve got some quiet?

Go for a Walk

Yes it’s a simple walk that’ll take you maybe 20 minutes, and the kids may be trailing behind you, but it still gets you out of the house and into the fresh air for a bit! And when you’ve been cooped up inside for ages with your children on at you since the moment you opened your eyes, this is the kind of break you need. Slip some comfy walking shoes on and get out there, take some snacks and a drink with you, and take your time in the sun and the breeze.

If you’re a busy mom, work the breaks you need into the schedule you’re forced to follow. Treating yourself every now and then should be a normal part of life based on all the hard work you do!
