We are kickstarting the festivities for 2020 with my Holiday Gift Guide for Kids today! Since my gift guides went down so well last year, I decided to do them again this year. I’ll also be doing an extra one, for the home, since we recently moved house and I’ve been super into finding cute stuff for the house.
I’ve trawled the internet for the best gifts for kids or.. those big kids in your life! Anything from craty gifts to Lego and Disney princesses. I’ve tried to find a broad range of the most fun toys and games I could find.
Obviously, 2020 has been a very different year. It’s been totally unlike any of us could have imagined, however, I’m hopeful that we can still enjoy some form of normality this Christmas. Even though we won’t be able to have large gatherings, I’m still thankful that I get to see my parents, brother, SIL and nephew. In fact I’m actually looking forward to our family boxing day more than normal as it’s just going to be us, playing silly games and enjoying each others company.

I have to admit, I bought one of these and it’s the best £7 I’ve spent. It was simple and fun to do. I imagine it would be even more fun to make with your child. It’s no sew, so there’s nothing sharp to hurt them. You get the pre-stuffed head which is attached to the body shell, a bag of stuffing, a heart to place inside him and a birth certificate. I named my dinosaur Dylan and he’s currently upstairs in our bedroom. So fun and an inexpensive gift! - Kinetic Sand Folding Sandbox – £29.99 from Smyths Toy Store.
I so wish we had Kinetic sand when I was a kid. It looks like a crazy amount of fun! Mum and I watched an advert a while back for it and we both wanted it! There are loads of different sets; Paw Patrol, food based ones, ones that spin, rainbow ones, digger ones. I chose one that came with its own fold away box, so it could be contained! I imagine it makes a right mess!! - Monopoly Cheater’s Edition – £18 from Argos.
Who doesn’t love a game of Monopoly? I know we do in our family. My mum collects them and has every one you can think of! This Cheater’s Edition is a fun twist, which I think kids and adults will enjoy! - VTech Baby Peek-A-Boo Bear – £15.99 from Smyths Toy Store.
This is a pick for the under 1s in your life. It’s interactive, cute and reasonably priced. The bear will play hide and seek and it plays lots of different songs. - Ty Fantasia Flippable Square Backpack – £20 from Next.
I love a cute backpack and I collected beanie babies in the 90s, so I would have loved this as a kid! It’s practical and cute! - LeapFrog LeapStart Electronic Book – £34.99 from Amazon.
This is such a great gift because it isn’t something you use for a month and then get rid of. You can use this from ages 2-7! We bought it for my best friend’s son and I hope he loves it! There are three different levels from pre school to primary school and two reading levels. Each book has at least 30 activities and they’re interactive. Educational and fun! - Baby Alive Grows Up – £49.99 from Smyths Toy Store.
For anyone that loves baby dolls, this one is fab! It starts off as a newborn and then with love and care, grows up to be a big girl! I was obsessed with dolls as a kid and would have loved seeing my doll “grow up”. - Squeakee Interactive Balloon Dog – £54.99 from Amazon.
Oh my gosh, how fun is this?! You can “pop” him and he will collapse, then “fill him up” with air and he stands back up! You can pet him, feed him, he’ll sit, talk, play and you can train him. Fun for everyone! - Aquadoodle Classic Water Doodle Mat – £16.99 from Amazon.
This mat is activiated by water, but leaves no mess! So kids can draw to their hearts content, but once it dries the mat is cleared for the next time! I love this idea. I’m all for messy play, but sometimes you don’t want crayons all over your floor! - Melissa and Doug Top and Bake Pizza Counter Set – £37.44 from Amazon.
We have bought this for my nephew this year and it looks so fun! We got him the Ice Cream stand for his birthday and he loves it! These toys are made really well and Melissa and Doug only do wooden toys. - The Original Spirograph Deluxe Set – £22.99 from Amazon.
I had a Spirograph when I was a kid and I’m so glad they’re still a thing! You can have so much fun with Spirograph and create the most amazing patterns! You can get this set elsewhere, but Amazon was the cheapest. - Disney Princess Ariel Styling head – £15.99 from Very.
I originally picked the Moana styling head, but it’s now out of stock everywhere! Styling heads are such great fun. I used to cut and style my Barbie’s hair (with varying degrees of success!!) but this is slightly larger, so possibly easier to style! - Wood Little Parking Gaage – £28.20 from Alex and Alexa.
Got kids who are obsessed with cars? Then this wooden parking garage is going to be perfect. Plus, it’s a great price! I’ve seen loads of wooden parking garages and they’re expensive! - LeapFrog Pick up and Count Vacuum – £32.99 from Smyths Toy Store.
I love that this vacuum is fun to play with and is also educational. There are balls inside that pop and it helps with colour recognition. Kids love pretending to help clean and this is a fun twist on a plain pretend vacuum. - Lego Star Wars The Child – £59.99 from IWOOT (Usually £69.99)
This is one for the older kids. I know nothing about Star Wars, but everyone seems to be loving The Mandoalorian, so I’m sure this will be a hot item for Christmas. - Casdon Supermarket Till – £20 from Selfridge’s.
Who doesn’t love to play shops? I know I loved it as a kid! This one is reasonably priced and comes with some “stock”! All you need to play for hours.
Phew! That was a lot! But, here we are at the end of my Holiday Gift Guide For Kids. I found so many great present ideas this year I had to share them. Last year I think I only did about 10 items!
