Hiya guys, coming at you with my May 2020 Beauty Favourites today! I’m actually a bit earlier than normal. I try and do it the nearest thursday to the end of the month and this time it’s before the end of the month!
There aren’t too many new products this month. With everything currently going on, there haven’t been many new releases. I’ve really been trying to get my acne under control this month. I’ve found an amazing serum and moisturiser which have helped my skin a lot. The cream has come straight in and blown every other cream I own out of the water. So, it’s definitely earned its place in my May 2020 Beauty Favourites.
My antibiotics seem to be working now, it’s taken about 4 months, but the cystic spots have stopped. I still have texture, but no active breakouts. I was searching for a really plain, hydrating moisturiser. During my search, I found a UK skincare brand called Kri, so I ordered a few bits to try. They do trial sizes which I love, because so many times I’ve bought something, it doesn’t work and I’m stuck with the full size.
It turns out Kri are really local to me, in fact just down the road! Small world haha. Anyway, I’ve been loving their stuff this month along with a new primer and foundation. I’ve fallen back in love with some Milani eyeshadows and some blushes I already owned. So let’s get into my May 2020 Beauty Favourites properly!

KRI SKINCARE ENDLESS MOISTURE FACE CREAM WITH SQUALANE – £22 from Kri
This is the single best product to improve my skin this month. It manages to balance my skin perfectly. I don’t wake up oily or dry. I was worried it would be a bit heavy for every day use when I first pumped it out as it’s thicker than I was expecting. However, it’s beautiful. My skin drinks this cream up. It’s so gentle and the ingredients are great. There are no nasties in any of Kri’s skincare.
I have really intolerant skin, so I need the most non-irritating ingredients you can imagine. There’s a list as long as my arm of ingredients my skin can’t tolerate. This cream has become the moisturiser I use every night. It locks everything else into my skin and has helped with my dryness and skin texture.
It has really calmed my skin down, my skin was so irritated, red, sore etc. After a week of using this moisturiser, it’s improved ten fold. After one week I ordered the full size as I love it so much. If you have sensitive, acne prone, intolerant skin I would highly recommend you get a trial of this cream. It’s amazing!
KRI RENEW BRIGHTENING SERUM – £26 from Kri
Another stand out product from Kri, this is an overnight exfoliating serum and boy does it work. I have tried pretty much every overnight exfoliators that you can get and I just don’t see results with them. However, this noticeably brightens my skin overnight and has helped massively with texture.
My skin looks so much better in the morning. I have acne which is pretty much healed and is just a faded red bump, but not quite a scar. This is really helping with that. It tingles slightly when you put it on, but that dissipates after a few seconds.
It uses fruit acids and is a mixture of 15% AHAs and PHAs. I like PHAs as they are gentler on the skin. I only use this once a week as any more and my skin then goes the other way into over-exfoliating. However, it really works and my skin actually peels a bit the next day. In the morning, I use a muslin to gently buff away that peeling skin, then follow up with an SPF50. Definitely don’t forget your SPF after this! Use at least an SPF30 as any kind of exfoliator will make your skin sensitive.
I still have a way to go with my skin, but I finally feel that I’m making progress. I’m learning slowly what aggravates my skin, be it food, drink or skincare. I really hope I can continue to see improvement over the next month! I’ll definitely be trying more Kri products!
LAURA MERCIER PURE CANVAS PRIMER, PERFECTING – £32 from John Lewis
Laura Mercier recently released a whole new range of silicone free primers. They instantly piqued my interest as I love finding new primers that will keep my makeup looking great all day.
There are hydrating, illuminating, blurring, protecting and then this perfecting one in the range. I couldn’t decide between the hydrating, blurring and perfecting ones, but after watching reviews, I decided on the perfecting primer.
This has vitamin C in for brightening and anti oxidants to help perfect the skin. It feels cooling on the skin as you apply it and is easy to apply. It’s quite a thin consistency, so you don’t need to use much. It also feels lightweight and breathable on the skin.
I love that it’s silicone free as some primers have so much silicone in they can pill under certain foundations. This feels like you’re applying a skincare product, but it creates a barrier between your base and skincare.
It looks beautiful under all the foundations I’ve tried it with. I don’t notice it helping with longevity, however, it keeps my makeup looking beautiful for a full 8 hour day. If I was doing a 16 hour day, I’d use my Urban Decay All Nighter Primer. If you want to know more about that primer, I’ve done a full review on it. This primer really does make your base look perfect on the skin.
I really want to try the blurring one next. I’m intrigued as to how it’s pore blurring when usually pore blurring primers have silicone in!
NEUTROGENA HYDRO BOOST HYDRATING TINT – £16.20 from Yes Style
I have wanted to try the Neutrogena Hydro Boost for years! I’ve heard so much about it, but we don’t get it in the UK. We get some Neutrogena in the UK, but it’s more the skincare and body care. I wish we got the makeup though as I hear a lot of people love their products.
Anyway, I only got this a couple of weeks ago, but I already love it enough for it to make it to my May 2020 Beauty Favourites! It really performs like some high end foundations/skin tints I own!
I do wish they would expand the shade range. It’s not huge and I find the palest shade to be a bit dark and warm. However, because it’s only a skin tint, I can get away with it being slightly darker.
This lasts all day and is seamless on the skin. It’s perfect for Summer or those days where you just want a little something, but not a full face. It does feel hydrating on the skin, it doesn’t cling to dry patches and is seamless on the skin. It’s a skin perfector really, there’s a little bit of coverage, but it evens out what you have.
Since I’ve fallen in love with the Hydro Boost, I’m excited to try more Neutrogena makeup!
MARC JACOBS BEAUTY AIR BLUSH SOFT GLOW DUO IN KINKS N KISSES – £28 from Harvey Nichols
I’ve had this blush for aggggggges, but I think I’d only used it once until this month! I remember being so excited when it arrived as I’d wanted it for ages and it’s stunning. However, sometimes there are so many makeup releases, things slip under the radar.
I have another shade of this blush; Flesh and Fantasy, which I’ve used a lot more. That’s a nude blush. I think the colour of this one scared me a little. It arrived and it was much brighter than I thought. However, the formula is buildable, so it’s not scary at all!
This colour is so beautiful. You can make it darker or lighter depending where you put your brush. I love products that are versatile. I tend to evenly swish my brush to mix both colours, but the option is there to go darker or lighter.
This blush formula is absolutely stunning. It look air brushed on the skin and lasts all day. It’s really easy to work with and hard to go too heavy. I like to take a big stippling brush as I find it gives a lighter, more diffused look.
These blushes are some of the most under rated blushes out. I don’t really hear people talk about them much, but they’re really gorgeous and I want more shades!
NEW CID COSMETICS I-GLOW POWDER IN CORAL BLISS – £27.50 fom Feel Unique
I’m pretty sure this blush made it into my favourites last year too… But I just adore it so much I had to mention it in my May 2020 Beauty Favourites. I don’t use it in the Winter, but as soon as Spring/Summer rolls around I use it again and again. It’s the most perfect and stunning Summer blush. It makes you look healthy and gives a radiant flush to the skin.
You can go over board with this, so a light hand is required, but my goodness is this beautiful. Whenever I wear this, I don’t bother with highlight as this is a glowy product. This is another one where I like to use a stippled brush to diffuse it. I love to have this all over the cheeks, right up to where I’d place highlight, to create a seamless, glowy flush.
It would be great if they made more colours, they only make two. I do own the other colour, it’s a cool toned pinky/plum so much more suited to Autumn/Winter.
MILANI BELLA EYES GEL POWDER EYESHADOW – £4.99 from eBay
It seems these little eyeshadows are quite hard to come by. I’m not sure if they’ve been discontinued as I’ve had them for ages. However, this month I’ve been wanting a quick, easy eye look. So I’ve been grabbing these for a swish of colour over the lids.
They are gorgeous eyeshadows, soft, pigmented, easy to use. The formula is very interesting. It’s a gel to powder, but it doesn’t feel like a gel. When you put your finger on them, they just feel like a really soft, foiled shadow.
I have most of the neutral shades, but there are brighter shades. They’re really affordable and perform excellently. They last all day and don’t crease when I have my Nars Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base on.
Milani is one of my favourite drugstore brands, their stuff is amazing. It is more expensive in the UK than it is in the US which is a bummer, but I’ve loved everything I’ve tried.
I do order some things from the US if we don’t get them here. Beauty Bay and Boots stock Milani in the UK.
There we have it, my May 2020 Beauty Favourites! It’s been a mixed month where it comes to beauty! What have you been loving recently?
