Hiya everyone, hope you’re OK. Today, I’m sharing my thoughts on the new Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Concealer. It came out in the UK a few weeks ago and I’ve been putting it to the test. I wanted to make sure that I tested it thoroughly before sharing my review and I’m finally there.
Luminous Silk is a cult favourite product. I adore the foundation, it’s my go-to for travel or for whenever I need to do my makeup and forget about it all day. I have tried tonnes of foundations, but nothing has ever knocked Luminous Silk off of top spot. It’s my holy grail foundation.
It’s stunning on the skin, it lasts for 14 hours+, you can’t see it on the skin, it never looks heavy or cakey. I just adore it. Everything I test is compared to Luminous Silk!
SO, when I say that Armani were releasing the Luminous Silk Concealer, I knew I was definitely going to be buying it! It had a lot to live up to since I love the foundation so much, so let’s get into my thoughts.

COST
The Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Concealer is £34.50 for 12ml. That works out to be £2.87 per ml. This concealer is pretty pricey, but you do get 12ml.
To put that into perspective most concealers are around 6-7ml. The Armani Power Fabric is 7ml for £32.50, so you are getting more product for £2 more.
PACKAGING
The Armani Luminous Silk Concealer comes in a plastic frosted bottle, with a plastic cap and doe foot applicator. The doe foot is asymmetrical, this is supposedly so you can use the pointy tip for precise application and the flat side for larger application. I haven’t noticed it making much of a difference, if I’m honest.
The packaging feels nice, the plastic doesn’t feel cheap. The doe foot removes from the bottle nicely and doesn’t splatter product everywhere. It looks like a mini version of the foundation bottle, which I love!
SHADE RANGE
The Armani Luminous Silk Concealer comes in 20 shades. However, as is normal with Armani, I find the fair shades aren’t that fair and the neutral shades aren’t that neutral. I can totally make them work, but I find the range consists of about 14 similar, warm, light/medium shades and then a couple of deep.
I definitely think there could be improvements to the shade range. More truly neutral shades and more deep and fair shades.
I ended up going with shade 3 as it was described as a fair neutral shade, it works once blended out, but as you can see it’s quite yellow.
CLAIMS
- Luminous finish
- Infused with caffeine, vitamin E and glycerine to improve the look of dark circles
- Long lasting hydration
- Lightweight texture
- Longwearing
- For all skin types
- Medium coverage
This concealer definitely has a luminous finish, not oh-my-gosh-I-need-to-powder luminous, but a healthy, radiance. It does look very much like the foundation.
I presume the added caffeine, vitamin E and glycerine is more of a long term claim, because I’ve used this for 3-4 weeks now and I can’t say it’s drastically improved my dark circles. I do think you have to take the skincare benefits of makeup with a grain of salt. I like that skin friendly ingredients are in products these days, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have a good, solid skincare regime.
When it comes to long lasting hydration I agree, this never looks dry and it doesn’t dry out my under eyes. My under eyes are dry, so I need something hydrating for under there and this is perfect.
I also agree that the texture is lightweight and that this is long lasting. It lasts just as long as the foundation, I can get a good 14 hours from this and it looks perfect. I do think that it’s good for all skin types, but if you are very oily, you’ll probably want to powder it as it might be a bit glowy for you. For normal/dry/combo this would be great. My skin has been quite dry recently and this doesn’t cling onto dry flakes and make them look worse.
Finally, coverage wise, I agree that this is a medium coverage. It’s actually a very high medium coverage, I find it covers a lot.
APPLICATION AND COVERAGE
I find that this product works best with a small, soft brush. I normally tap my concealers in, but this one works better with a gentle swiping motion otherwise it can look like it’s sitting on the skin, rather than blending into it.
I don’t find that I need to set this, but this is probably because I have very dry under eyes. If you are very oily, you will probably want to set this. Set or unset, it lasts amazingly well with minimal creasing.
I have two very fine lines under my eyes and I’ve never had a concealer not settle at all. However, this one is one of the best, the creasing/settling is so minor you would have to be almost touching the mirror with your nose to see it.
You don’t need much product to get the solid medium coverage this concealer claims to have. It’s very easy to blend, very lightweight and does a good job of covering my dark circles. I also think it covers breakouts really well too. It doesn’t need lots of re-blending throughout the day and looks great all day.
I have to admit, this is the first concealer I’ve tried that can be used both under my eyes and on spots. I’ve tried so many concealers, but I’ve always found I needed a separate one for my eyes and spots. Not so with this one, it works great on both!
Here’s a comparison for you to show how much coverage you get. I do have very purple under eyes, so nothing 100% covers it:
Here’s the concealer applied all over. You can still see some redness peeking through from breakouts, but it does a great job.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I LOVE this concealer! Armani have knocked it out of the park with the Luminous Silk Concealer. Since I love the foundation so much, this had a lot to live up to and I’m pleased to say it does live up to it!
I’ve been wearing this concealer non-stop since I got it. It’s beautiful! I love the finish, it looks radiant, but healthy. I love the fact it doesn’t crease and that it lasts all day and the best bit is the fact I can use it on my spots and my under eyes. This really is a gorgeous concealer and I’d really recommend you try it if you’re in the market for a new concealer!
I’m also so glad that I love this, because I have had the Power Fabric concealer for a while and I don’t love it. It looks awful under my eyes, so I only use it for breakouts, but it also needs reblending throughout the day. It is fuller coverage, so it depends on what you want. However, I also find it to be more drying.
All in all, I am in love with this concealer and it’s gone straight into my top 3 concealers! Let me know if you get to try it and what you think!
