Hiya guys, hope you’re well. Apologies for my February Beauty Favourites being late this month, but last week hubby and I were off work.
Does anyone else feel like January was 80 years long, but February went by in a flash?! I can’t believe it’s March already. Spring is almost here and I cannot wait!
This month there’s a mix of high end and drugstore makeup in my beauty favourites, I’ve been testing out some drugstore makeup and I have to say I’ve been impressed. The drugstore brands have really been upping their game!
Anyway, let’s get into the products I’ve been loving lately.
DISCLAIMER: John Lewis and LookFantastic links are affiliate, all others are not. All products purchased by me apart from the sunglasses which were gifted.
REVLON PHOTOREADY PORE REDUCING PRIMER – £12.99 from LookFantastic
I had heard such great things about this primer, so I decided to pick it up and try for myself. I have to say, I really love it! It’s easy to apply and really smooths my face out. It’s not runny, but it’s not the thickest primer I’ve used. Sometimes pore filling primers are really thick, but this one is easy to apply.
It lasts really well under every foundation I’ve worn on it too. It keeps my oils at bay and I don’t get any product sinking into my pores. It doesn’t have any fragrance and it hasn’t broken me out. It’s also not drying. I’ve been dealing with some bad acne recently and this doesn’t exacerbate anything or cling to dry patches. Between this and the Urban Decay All Nighter Primer, I haven’t used any other primers in February!
ESTÉE LAUDER FUTURIST HYDRA RESCUE FOUNDATION – £36 from John Lewis
Oh my goodness, this foundation. I am so in love! I haven’t touched another foundation all month. It’s so fantastic and totally lives up to the hype, so was bound to end up in my favourites for February. It lasts all day on me and looks amazing all day. It’s easy to apply, easy to blend, gives your skin this healthy glow and all in all is just a wonderful foundation. The coverage is brilliant for how little product you need and it’s one of those put on and forget produts, which I love.
I was so excited for this to come out and I’m so glad it’s as good as I thought it would be. I did a full review on it, which you can read here.
HOURGLASS AMBIENT LIGHTING POWDER – £42 from John Lewis
Now, this is a blast from the past! I have had this powder for ages and I used to use it all the time. Then I got a few other powders that I used, but in February I picked this up again and I’ve fallen back in love. It’s so beautiful on the skin.
The other powders I got were all OK, but none of them perform like this one. I have the Charlotte Tilbury powder that everyone raves about, but I just don’t like it. Whenever I put it on, it always makes my foundation noticeable and heavy looking. The Hourglass powder never does that. It’s totally imperceptible on the skin.
Whenever I get a little shiny, I just sweep this over my skin and it instantly absorbs the oil while not changing the look of my foundation at all. This powder has a slight sheen to it, but I don’t notice it on the face. It just makes everything look perfect again. I can’t see me going away from this powder again as it’s just SO good.
KIKO MILANO TUSCAN SUNSHINE BLUSH – £14.99 from Kiko
Kiko is SUCH an underated brand in my opinion. I’ve only ever had one product I didn’t like from them, but Kiko products always seem to make it into my favourites as they’re just so amazing.
Their blushes are always sublime and this one from the Tuscan Sunshine collection is no different. I mean, for one, look how stunning the compact and powder are. I could not resist this collection and I’m so glad it didn’t let me down.
This blush is stunning, you can use either side individually or swirl together (I swirl together) and it’s gorgeous on the skin. It’s not glittery, but has a soft sheen and makes you look so healthy. It also lasts all day. I got two shades of this blush; Florence Dream and Square of Miracle and they’re both gorgeous. I also got the foundation from this collection and that is beautiful too – review coming soon!
I also loved another Kiko blush this month, but it’s no longer available which is such a shame as it’s stunning. It’s from the Magnetic Attraction collection and is called Heart is Art. It’s a 2 in 1 blush, but again, I swirl the two together. This is a baked blush and is absolutely divine. Gorgeously smooth, blendable and easy to apply.
PHYSICIANS FORMULA BUTTER HIGHLIGHTER – £8.87 from Amazon
These highlighters are not readily available in the UK, which is a pain in the butt, but you can get them from Amazon and there’s a seller I use on eBay who ships from the states for a reasonable price.
This highlighter is gorgeous; it feels like silk and applies beautifully. I have the shade pearl and while it might look white in the pan, it doesn’t apply like a great big white streak. It has a few other colours in it which look really pretty in the light. I have to get more shades of this because the formula is spot on!!
This highlighter has the butter scent, but it doesn’t bother me, I think it smells quite nice actually. I’ve been super impressed with everything I’ve tried from Physicians formula and while I’m glad we get some products in the UK now, I wish we got everything as I want to try it all!
KIKO MILANO TUSCAN SUNSHINE SHINY LIP STYLO – £9.99 from Kiko
Yep, another Kiko product is in my favourites! Haha, sorry, but I just love their products! This lipstick is beautiful, it’s quite sheer, but that makes it super easy to wear. It’s the type of lipstick you can quickly apply on the go and it brings your lips to life. This is a shiny, glossy lipstick, so it’s not long wearing, but I don’t care. It’s so easy to wear, I just keep it in my handbag for when my lips need an extra little something.
The formula of this lipstick is gorgeous and the packaging is amazing too. This lipstick is just under £10, yet it feels solid, well made and has a magnetic closure. You don’t get that on some £30 lipsticks!
