Too Faced have released a new palette and it is a stunner! As soon as I saw the Instagram post announcing this was coming soon, I knew I was going to buy it!!
I stalked the Too Faced website, all the UK stockists and Instagram for any sign of it, then I went onto Sephora France and there she was!
It’s not available on the Too Faced site yet, or any UK stockists, so I thought I’d share close ups of the palette and some swatches to help you decide if you need this palette.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
My first impressions of this palette are that it is beautiful!! Unfortunately, there are definitely some disappointing shades in this palette. Pinned down and Peacocking are a huge let down as they look so pretty in the palette, but lack pigmentation in the swatches. I tried to build them up, but I just couldn’t. Pinned down is also patchy.
Most of the mattes are creamy and smooth, there is quite a bit of kick up on some of them, but this doesn’t bother me as I only tap lightly with my brush. They are buildable and easy to blend. Afternoon Delight is the only matte which was difficult to build up and it’s quite sheer, but it would work well as a transition shade. Blindfolded, the matte black shade, is phenomenal! It’s the smoothest, most pigmented black I’ve ever seen!
The shimmers are all gorgeous colours, but some are dry and hard to pick up with a finger, so I don’t see them working with a brush. If you set down a glitter glue they may work better, but I’d still recommend applying with a finger. For an every day look I don’t mind sheerer metallics, but if you are looking for every metallic to be foiled, this isn’t the palette.
Oops-a-daisy, Temptation, Sassy Brassy and All Tied Up are the stand out metallic shades; super smooth and foiled.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Overall, I’m happy to have this palette in my collection, it is gorgeous and I see it working well for people who love every day neutrals that aren’t crazy bright. Do you NEED this palette? Probably not, you probably have all of the colours in your collection, but for me I like having these colours all in one palette.
Yes there are some shades that are lacking in pigmentation, but overall the mattes are good and easy to work with and the metallics would be perfect for a work/every day look. I’m glad there are some foiled shadows in this palette for those times you do want something brighter, but I think the fact that the two pops of colour are the most disappointing shades, in the palette, is unfortunate.
