Sweet strawberries and tropical pineapple married together with a little sugar and lemon juice make this fruit salsa a delight for your taste buds. Along with homemade cinnamon chips, this is one seriously addictive snack!
Coming at you with another strawberry recipe today because I AM OBSESSED!
At this stage in Summer, I am approximately 50% strawberries because I can’t stop eating them. In baked goods, in fruit salsa, with granola, with yoghurt; any which way I can get strawberries I am right now.
SO, I decided it was high time I made a fruit salsa with homemade cinnamon tortilla chips and boy did it turn out to be one delicious snack!
The cinnamon tortilla chips? The cherry on top of this fabulous salsa!
Even Mr AN loved this and he hates cinnamon normally! The salsa itself is very simple to make and made with just a few ingredients.
I diced up fresh strawberries and pineapple, then sprinkled the fruit with 3tbsp of sugar and 1tsp of lemon juice. Toss it together, leave for a few minutes and the sugar and fruit create their own sauce. DIVINE!
The thing that takes the longest is the cinnamon chips, but let me tell you, they are totally worth it. So much better than shop bought, these are golden, crispy and loaded with sweet cinnamon flavour.
The mixture of fresh fruit, lemon juice, sugar, crunchy tortilla chips and cinnamon is just perfect; perfectly balanced and totally moreish.
I could not stop eating the tortilla chips. I even burnt my tongue because I had to try them straight out of the oven! They might be simple, but they really pack a punch! I also wanted to eat the entire bowl of salsa because it tasted that good!
This would be a perfect little snack to share with friends and you can easily double the recipe if need be. I love nothing more than sharing good food with friends and family and this is just the kind of thing I would take to a BBQ.

Strawberry and Pineapple Fruit Salsa
Ingredients
- For the cinnamon tortilla chips:
- 6 flour tortillas
- 1/2 stick (56g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup (50g) caster/white sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- For the fruit salsa:
- 1 1/2 cups (225g) diced fresh strawberries
- 1 1/2 cups (300g) diced fresh pineapple
- 3 tbsp caster/white sugar
- 1 tsp lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180C/350F and line 2 baking trays with a Silpat/silicone mat/grease proof paper.
- Brush each tortilla with lightly with the melted butter, then cut into wedges. I use a pizza cutter to halve, halve again and then go over once diagonally each way. Much easier than using a knife!
- Place each tortilla chip onto your prepared baking trays. Try not to overlap the chips, but they can be close together on the tray.
- Place the sugar and cinnamon into a small bowl and stir until well mixed and there are no lumps of cinnamon.
- Sprinkle each tortilla chip with a little of the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Place in the oven for 8-10 minutes until golden and crisp. Leave to cool.
- To make the fruit salsa: Place diced strawberries and pineapple into a medium sized bowl and sprinkle with sugar. Add in the lemon juice and toss to coat all of the fruit in sugar.
- Leave to one side for 10 minutes until the fruit becomes glossy and has made its own sauce.
- Place fruit salsa into a small bowl and place on a plate. Place cooled tortilla chips around the bowl and then serve.
- Cinnamon tortilla chips will keep in an airtight container, at room temperature for 2 days. Fruit salsa will keep covered, in the fridge for 2 days.
