These Ice Pops are quick to make and so refreshing. Sweet blackcurrants and tart lime are mixed with natural yoghurt to create an easy, kid-friendly treat. With no added sugar these are the perfect way to cool down on a hot Summer’s day!
Sad, but true.
These are the first Ice Pops I’ve ever made.
But, ain’t nobody going to stop me now! 😀
I loved how I could just pick out some yoghurt and fruit and then after a few hours in the freezer they’re transformed into the most refreshing treat for when I’m sweating it out doing a Barre workout!
The possibilities for ice pops are truly limitless! I’m sitting here thinking of about a dozen flavours I could make! 🙂
These are light, sweet, tart, creamy and cooling all in one mouthful. Perfect for kids and adults alike.
Although, I won’t judge if you eat 3 and hide them from the kids.
These are perfect for the UK this week, it is HOT! Last night we had the fan going all night, windows wide open, covers off and it was still uncomfortable. I literally wanted to cover myself in ice.
As you can probably guess, I’m not so good with heat.
I am not one of those people who will be out sunning myself at the slightest hint of sun. Yes, I put my shades on with slightest hint of sun, but that’s because I don’t want eye wrinkles. True story.
I am pale. I mean really pale, sometimes I swear you can see through my skin. Even with SPF50+ on I can burn in about 30 minutes, so I tend to avoid the sun!
But I HATE BEING STICKY! And then when I open the window, it’s just pointless because there’s no breeze.
I don’t even know how you guys cope in a hotter climate. I would die.
However, I also don’t want to just sit on the sofa eating all Summer, so I drag myself up to workout. Then I get sticky, then I get grumpy, then I eat one of these and feel a little better. See, you need them, they’ll make you happy 😉
To make these pretty ice pops, you just need some blackcurrants, fresh or freeze dried. I’m loving freeze dried berries at the moment, they’re great to snack on and if you re-hydrate them, they work really well in baking too.
Then you need some milk, natural yoghurt, lime juice and sweetener. That’s it! No mixers, no hot oven… just good, simple ingredients!
See no added sugar, so you can eat them all Summer long and not turn up with no teeth next time you go to the dentist. Win, win.
I feel kind of like a fraud for saying this is a recipe, I mean it takes hardly any work, but still, it’s food, it has ingredients and I took pictures, so go figure.
I’m usually still trying to bake in this heat, but I’ve had to give in, it’s just too hot to stand in the kitchen with the oven on. Tomorrow it’s meant to be 30C, I’d like to walk round naked, but nobody is ready for that sight.
So I’ll just have to eat more of these and hide in the lounge with a fan and the curtains drawn.
Anyways, if you have blackcurrants and some natural yoghurt you need to use up, you should definitely make these. I am officially and Ice Pop convert!

Blackcurrant and Lime Yoghurt Ice Pops
Ingredients
- Juice of 1 lime
- 1 cup low fat natural yoghurt
- 1 tbsp sweetener, more to taste if required
- 1/2 cup milk, I used skim
- 2/3 cup fresh/freeze dried blackcurrants, divided (I used freeze dried and re-hydrated them in some water before use)
Instructions
- Place the lime juice, natural yoghurt, sweetener and milk into a jug and lightly beat with a fork until well combined. Add in extra sweetener if you need to.
- Place 1/3 cup blackcurrants into a small bowl and, using the end of a rolling pin, smash them slightly.
- Add the smashed blackcurrants and the remaining 1/3 cup of whole blackcurrants to the yoghurt mix and stir until they're all covered.
- Divide the mixture between 6 Ice pop molds and freeze for at least 6 hours, or until frozen through.
- Ice pops will keep in the freezer for 2 weeks.
