Things You Can Do For Yourself Just Because

25.3.23 By Annie N

Doing something for yourself ‘just because’ is a great idea. You don’t have to have a reason to treat yourself, go somewhere or do something that makes you feel good – you should just be able to do it because you want to, and that’s it.

This can be a hard practice to get into because it can feel somewhat selfish, but it’s not selfish at all, it’s actually a form of self-care. Self-care is crucial in life as it makes you less stressed, keeps you happy, and ensures you put yourself first. With that in mind, here are some of the things you can do just for yourself and just because you want to.

Paint Your Nails

You don’t have to go all out – or out at all if you prefer to stay at home – when it comes to the things you do for yourself just because. Something simple like browsing the wonderful nail supplies at NSI Nails, buying the ones you like the look of, and then spending some time decorating your nails in a variety of colours and patterns can be enough.

This is a mindful activity, as you can give your entire focus to it. This is ideal when it comes to treating yourself because it means you will be able to de-stress and have fun. By the time you’re done, not only will you have gorgeous nails, but you’ll feel generally happier as well.

Get A Massage

Another great treat is to get a massage. A massage is highly relaxing, it improves circulation, and it releases tension. You can go to a professional, or you can have someone come to you, depending on how much time you have. You might even make a whole day of it and book yourself into a spa for the day and not only have a massage but get a variety of other treatments as well, such as a facial, aromatherapy, a pedicure, and perhaps some time in a steam room or sauna – or both.

There are lots of different types of massage, so make sure you book the one that’s going to help you the best. If you’re feeling generally overwhelmed and stressed, a Swedish massage could be the right choice. If you’re feeling sore after sports or your muscles are hurting for any reason, then a sports massage would be better, for example.

Take A Day Trip

Spending time with friends and family is wonderful, and we’re often told this is something we should try to do more of – we’re so busy in the modern world that we don’t get to do it too often. However, spending time alone is just as important, and taking a day trip somewhere by yourself can be a thrilling and exhilarating experience, no matter what it is you do.

Why not pack a picnic lunch or at least some snacks and go out for an adventure? You can take in a matinee, go to the park for a picnic, join an art class, visit a museum, or just go for a long walk. Once any childcare is taken care of, you can enjoy the entire day exactly the way you want to.

These are just a few ideas of things you can do for yourself. Remember it’s not selfish to prioritise yourself sometimes!
