Hiya everyone! It’s no secret I’m obsessed with cream blush right now. In fact, I just did a post the other week about my favourite cream blush formulas. However, then I saw that there was a new product in town. The Melt Cosmetics Cream Blushlight. I knew instantly I HAD to try them as they looked right up my street.
Before we get down to business with the Melt Cosmetics Cream Blushlight… I am officially 30! It was my birthday yesterday and my husband took the day off work. We stayed in bed watching TV until 1pm and then I dozed all afternoon before he made my favourite dinner: Lemon Chicken. Perfection.
On Sunday we had my family over in our garden, now the rules allow it. We had a pizza party and it was so nice to see everyone properly as we haven’t been able to in months. It was just lovely to be surounded by my nearest and dearest. I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. No party with loads of people you don’t really like. Not for me, I like chilled and relaxed. The Ooni pizza oven I bought my husband for Christmas got a good outing and was a hit. We had homemade dough, homemade pizza sauce, all the toppings. Everyone was building their own pizza and then it cooks in like 60-90 seconds. Amazing!
There’s no denying my 20s were a rollercoaster. From the highest highs, to the lowest lows. Weddings, funerals, love, loss, moving house twice, battling an eating disorder, fighting to get answers as to what’s wrong with my body. I learnt to cut the toxic dead wood from my life and only surround myself with people who aren’t narcissists or trying to play games and treat people like shite on their shoe.
Looking forward to my 30s, I want to make our new house our dream home, continue surrounding myself with amazing people who aren’t fake backstabbers, hell bent on playing the victim, turning on the crocodile tears and treating people like rubbish. We also may get a new furry friend and I’m excited to be able to see my family more as restrictions ease. That was the main reason we moved after all!

COST
The Melt Cosmetics Cream Blushlight is £16 for 4.5g. This works out to be £3.55 per gram.
Considering these are cream products, which will go bad before powder products, I think 4.5g is a decent amount of product. And £16 is pretty reasonable as well.

PACKAGING
The Melt Cosmetics Cream Blushlight comes in a sturdy plastic case with a magnetic closure and mirror inside. It feels nicely weighted in the hand and the plastic doesn’t feel cheap. I like the magnetic closure, it feels a bit more lux than a click shut compact.
From the outside, the packaging is simple, just a black compact with melt written on. However, the boxes are gorgeous! They are textured and have raised glossy bits. I love that it’s a photo of a swatch that adorns the boxes. All the box swatches match the blush inside.
SHADES
There are 8 shades of Melt Cosmetics Cream Blushlight. 5 have shimmer and 3 are matte. I have one of each; Honey Thief is matte and Golden Hour has shimmer. I’m also eyeing up Polished which is another shimmer shade.
I think there’s a pretty good balance of shades, both for light and deep skin. The only shade I think is missing, is a good mauve/plum shade. There’s a pink, pinky peach, true peach, brick red and a few nude/brown shades.

APPLICATION AND PERFORMANCE
First off, these cream blushes smell DIVINE! Sweet, vanillery and slightly salty?? Kind of like sweet Play-Doh. I’m not selling it to you I realise, but believe me when I say, the smell is amazing!
These cream blushes are very smooth and almost balm like when you swirl a finger in them. These are called blushes, but Melt do say that they can also be applied to the lips. The formula isn’t sticky and isn’t too slippery either. It manages to be the perfect mixture of smooth and creamy, but isn’t too thick or thin.
A word of caution: they are seriously pigmented! When I first applied Honey Thief, I was like “WOAH” as I dabbed it on my cheek. I’d only tapped my brush in twice, but it was more than enough haha!
I was concerned I’d ruined my makeup by placing one big dot of blush on my cheek, but these blend so easily I managed to spread all that product out over my cheek.
Whilst, I do find there is some dry down, they don’t set completely and they aren’t a cream to powder formula. You have plenty of time to work with the product before it sets too. It’s not one where you place the product and before you have time to finish it, it’s set.
Another positive is that they don’t disrupt the foundation underneath. You can blend away and you don’t end up with chunks of your face makeup missing. They blend seamlessly over the skin. I’ve tried using these over both set and unset foundation and had no trouble with either.
In terms of set down, it will still transfer to a mask, but it becomes slightly set in place and less likely to move if you touch your face. These are easy to blend wih a finger, sponge and brush. Using a slightly dense brush is my favourite way to apply. I tap the product over my cheeks and my favourite brush to do this with is the Rodial Sculpting Brush. This has since been discontinued and changed, but any reasonsably dense, angled cheek brush should do the same. Some people prefer to use a stippling brush to apply cream blush, but I don’t find it works as well for me.
I notice the most “dry down” with the shade Honey Thief, the matte shade I purchased. It is a creamy balm when you apply it, then it sets down into this every so slightly dewy matte looking blush.
With Golden Hour, the shimmer shade I bought, it keeps that reflection and looks glowy on the cheek all day. The way it catches the light is just glorious. There aren’t any large chunks of glitter, it’s all fine shimmer. However, all together it becomes this almost glossy looking blush. Stunning!!
When it comes to wear time, the Melt Cosmetics Cream Blushlight lasts a full 16 hour day on me without fading. They don’t separate from the skin, look heavy or cakey. They somehow manage to look just as good as when you first applied them!
Let’s take a look at them on the skin. On my left cheek Honey Thief, on my right Golden Hour They look similar when on, but close up you can see more of a golden shift with Golden Hour:
OVERALL THOUGHTS
In case you haven’t guessed, I am absolutely loving the Melt Cosmetics Cream Blushlight formula! It’s so easy to work with, lasts ages and looks divine on the cheeks. I hope Melt expand the range to include a mauve or more traditional rosy pink shade, but apart from that these are a new favourite cream blush!
If you too love cream blush, I would highly recommend the Melt Cosmetics Cream Blushlight! The only thing to be aware of is that you need the tiniest amount of product to cover your entire cheek, so go easy on picking up product! They blend like a dream, look stunning on the skin and last as long as a powder blush. I think Melt have absolutely nailed these Cream Blushlights and I can’t wait to try more shades!
