Happy Thursday everyone! Welcome to my June 2020 Beauty Favourites! We’re officially over half way through 2020. It’s been a bit of sh*t show so far hasn’t it? Not just for me, for the whole world. If I could review 2020 it would be a one star haha!
Anyway, let’s get down to business: my June 2020 Beauty Favourites! There still isn’t much new makeup being released and if there is, it hasn’t been interesting to me. I only bought the new Kiko collection in June I think.
It is good to go through your own collection, but I do love new and exciting. Of course, I don’t want the products I own to go bad without me using them, but when it’s part of your job to review makeup, you kinda need some new stuff!??!
Anyway, I have found some old favourites for my June 2020 Beauty Favourites, so let’s get into things!
DISCLAIMER: John Lewis, YesStyle and Look Fantastic links are affiliate, all others are not. All products purchased by me.
LUMENE INVISIBLE ILLUMINATION INSTANT GLOW BEAUTY SERUM – £27 from John Lewis
I’ve had this product for a while and as the weather has been warming up, I’ve been wanting a lightweight, glowy base. This is the most gorgeous product. It makes you look so healthy. It has just enough coverage to even things out and make you look like you have amazing skin.
This product also lasts SO well! I get a full 14 hours. It does fade slightly at around 10 hours, but a lot of these tinted moisturiser type products aren’t the longest wearing. Happy to report, this product from Lumene is perfection.
It’s made me want to try lots more from Lumene. They have some gorgeous products on their site. We don’t have the entire range from what I can tell in the UK. However, their own website does deliver here.
They have some other foundations/tints I want to try, blushes, lip products, skincare. Their whole vibe appeals to me!
I’ve been using this product SO much! If I’m in a rush, I just pop this on with a bit of mascara, clear brow gel and lip balm. It makes you look put together, but takes 5 minutes. You can use a brush, sponge or your fingers and it always looks amazing!
DIOR FOREVER SKIN GLOW FOUNDATION – £37 from John Lewis
If you’re looking for moe coverage, but still want that glowy, healthy look, then the Dior Forever Skin Glow Foundation is just the thing.
This is the first foundation that has ever come close to knocking my Holy Grail foundation, Armani’s Luminous Silk. It looks similar, albeit a bit more glowy, it always looks stunning on the skin, it lasts for ages and looks flawless. I just love it!
You can build this up to a pretty full coverage. I usually keep it medium as I don’t love full coverage. It looks great applied with a brush or sponge. I do wish the palest shade was paler. It’s quite warn and dark, but it works. I love it so much, I tolerate the fact it isn’t my perfect shade!
I shared my Top 5 High End Foundations last week and went into way more detail about why I love this foundation, but needless to say, I’ve been loving this in June and spent the whole month going back and forth between this and the Lumene!
MAC GLOW PLAY BLUSH IN CHEER UP – £23.50 from MAC
I’ve shared just how much I love these blushes before. However, in May I bought the shade Cheer Up and oh boy, it’s perfection. Smooth, pigmented, easy to work with and the colour??! I ADORE IT. It really is the perfect peachy pink for Summer.
The formula of these is so amazing. They feel almost spongey to the touch, but they’re so easy to work with. If, like me, you don’t have much experience with cream products, this is the perfect way to dip your toe into the cream product world!
I was super scared I’d end up with clown cheeks and find these hard to work with, but nope. Happy to report they are divine. MAC knocked it out of the park with this release. I highly recommend the Glow Play blushes. I now have three shades; cheeky devil, blush please and now cheeky devil. I’ve worn Cheeky Devil non stop in June, it’s so perfect for Summer!
KIKO UNEXPECTED PARADISE 3D BLUSH IN DREAM CORAL – £14.99 from Kiko
Yep, I’m still raving about this collection and there was no doubt something from the collection was going to make it into my June 2020 Beauty Favourites! I can’t get over how amazing it is. The quality, the smell, the way the products look. STUNNING. This blush is just glorious. It has a gold sheen and a pretty pink hue.
This blush is pigmented, smooth and easy to blend. You can really build it up if you want to, or sheer it out. If you’ve never tried Kiko before, do it! Their stuff is amazing and a really good price. Their blushes are always divine and I love their foundations too!
BURBERRY KISSES LIPSTICK IN NUDE PINK 05 – £27 from Look Fantastic
I don’t hear many people talk about Burberry makeup, but I’ve tried a few bits from them and they’ve all been great. These lipsticks are super smooth and have a lovely sheen. I have the shades English Rose and Nude Pink. The shade I’ve been wearing all month is Nude Pink. One thing… I don’t think this is very nude or pink. It’s more of a coral, but I love it none the less.
It’s perfect for Summer and so pretty. It really gives my complexion some life. It’s not the longest wearing lipstick, but I don’t expect it to be as it’s a creamy finish. The formula is lightweight and the packaging is gorgeous. It’s sleek and has a magnetic closure. There are loads of shades to choose from as well!
MAC LOVE ME LIPSTICK IN TRES BLASE – £17.50 from John Lewis
These lipsticks are SO amazing. You can’t beat a MAC lipstick, I just love them. Their cremesheen, lustre and love me lipsticks are my favourite formulas. However, this month this particular colour has been my jam. I have the shades Tres Blase, Daddy’s Girl and Laissez-Faire and Tres Blase is so gorgeous for summer.
Tres Blase is a peachy beige colour with just enough pink for me to be able to wear it. I can’t wear super orangey shades, they just don’t suit my colouring. It goes beautifully well with the Glow Play blush in Cheeky Devil and I can’t get enough of that combo!
There’s a few more shades I have my eye on, this formula is so gorgeous. It’s a satin finish, super opaque and easy to apply. The packaging is gorgeous too. As much as I love the sparkly black MAC packaging, I do love it when they change things up. These lipsticks are beautiful and I highly recommend them!
DRUNK ELEPHANT A-PASSIONI RETINOL CREAM – £62 from Cult Beauty
*You can also buy a small version of this to try. It comes in a pack with their B Hydra serum which I also love. That set is £24 from Cult Beauty.
I have used the Paula’s Choice 1% retinol for years, but I have heard so much about the Drunk Elephant one, I decided to give it a go.
I have sensitive skin, so only use retinol twice a week. However, I’ve been getting on really well with this. I just started to notice the fine line on my forehead getting more noticeable in May. I had been a bit up and down with using my retinol as I’ve been dealing with so much acne. I’ve had gels/creams/antibiotics etc. so at certain times I wasn’t able to use a retinol.
However, in May things started settling down, so I started using retinol again. I started with once a week and now I’m up to twice a week and I’ve definitely noticed the line on my forehead is less visible. It’s not gone, it’s not magic or botox, but I feel more confident again because I was really starting to notice it and thought I looked old haha. I’m aware everyone ages, but I’ve got to 29 with one single fine line on my forehead, so I want to prevent for as long as I can!
This product doesn’t burn or iritate my skin. I have used retinols in the past that really don’t agree with me, but this does. You don’t need much at all, so even the small tube is going to last me ages. Because I’ve been very cautious with this (as you should be with retinol) I haven’t had any peeling or irritation. Please don’t go from zero to 100 when you’re dealing with retinol. You will have the retinol uglies and, let me tell you from personal experience, it’s not pretty!
LET’S COMPARE THE DRUNK ELEPHANT TO THE PAULA’S CHOICE 1% RETINOL…
I find them to mostly perform the same. They are both 1%. I’d say that the change in my fine line has been slightly faster with the Drunk Elephant. It could be me imagining things, but I really do feel like it’s got less noticeable. I think they’re both great formulas, I’ve had no irritation and they both work.
Now, I do prefer the Paula’s Choice packaging as it’s totally protected in there and comes with a pump. However, I haven’t had too many problems with the Drunk Elephant being in a tube. I do think you would need to use it more quickly than the PC as that is in an airless, closed container.
The Paula’s Choice is £52, the Drunk Elephant £62 – both contain 30ml. However, you can get every last bit out of the DE easily as you can cut the tube. It is possible to break into the PC, but it’s not easy. When my last one stopped pumping, I got my husband to break it open and there was a lot still in there. However, then it was exposed as I couldn’t put the packaging back together again and still use it. I had to scrape the product out. So, yea… I like them both and would recommend both!
GLOSSIER MILKY JELLY CLEANSER – £15 from Glossier
What a cult classic this product is! This must be my 8th bottle and I’m scraping the barrel on it! I never go without this cleanser. I might go through phases where I don’t use it every day and I try other things, however, I always go back to it. It calms my skin down if anything has irritated it. It smells of roses which isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it doesn’t bother me.
This cleanser is just perfection. The texture is glorious, it’s non foaming, non irritating, non drying. I just love it. It manages to clean my skin without stripping it and I’ve never had any sensitivity to it.
It isn’t a one and done cleanser if you’re wearing a full face, it’s more of a second cleanse or morning cleanse, but I still love it. I use this mostly in the morning, alternating with the COSRX Low pH Good Morning Cleanser.
However, I do use it as a second cleanser at night sometimes. It pairs really well with the Hada Labo Cleansing Oil I always use. I think I will eventually do a skincare routine post, but I’m still clearing up my acne, so once I’m back into my proper routine and not having to treat anything, it will be better placed!
Anyway, I’ve gone on for long enough, these are all of my June 2020 Beauty Favourites, what are yours?
