Well, hello there! Another month has flown by and it’s time for me to share my October Beauty Favourites with you!
I tried some amazing products this month and found some forgotten favourites which I fell in love with again. This month I’ve found myself delving into deeper shades, more mauves, dark nudes, reddy browns, berries etc. It’s like I wake up on October 1st and am instantly over Summer and want all the Autumnal shades!!
I’m super pale, so I can’t go too dark, but I find it so fun to go through my makeup and transition seasons with the colours I choose to wear. Without further ado, let’s get into my October Beauty Favourites!
NARS VOYAGEUR PALETTE IN SUEDE – £28 from Space NK
I picked up this little gem when we were away in France and I adore it! It’s perfect for day time use and travel. I wore it every day at the Laver Cup and I loved how every eye look turned out.
It doesn’t have a matte cream shade, but other than that, it’s a complete palette. You have your crease shade, shimmers for the lid and a dark shade for the outer v. All the shadows perform well with a brush – I really don’t like applying shimmers with my fingers, but with some shimmers you have to. I really appreciate that you an use a brush with these.
Now we’re home, I’ve still found myself using this palette non-stop. It’s not revolutionary colour-wise, but if you want quick and easy, this is perfect!
MAC SHEERTONE BLUSH IN BLUSHBABY – £19.50 from Look Fantastic
Now it’s Autumn, I’ve been into mauvey blushes instead of the bright corals I wore all Summer. This blush is just beautiful. I’m really pale, so sometimes darker colours can be scary, but with the MAC Sheertone formula I don’t find these shades scary as the formula is buildable.
I wish MAC did more colours in their Sheertone range as it’s one of my favourites. It wears all day long and is easily blendable. I think I’m going to have to get Gingerly at some point, or at least look at it in the flesh and see if I like it as pictures online are sometimes nothing like the actual product!
BECCA SHIMMERING SKIN PERFECTOR PRESSED HIGHLIGHTER IN MOONSTONE – £16 from Look Fantastic
I have the mini version of this highlighter, which is £16 because, for me, a highlighter is probably the least likely thing that I’ll use up.
I had forgotten about this highlighter and it was gathering dust in my drawers, but I’ve started this new thing where, every month I go through my collection and pick out a few forgotten products, then I place them in a cute bag and have to use them that month.
If you want to see what I pick each month, be sure to follow me on Instagram as I share lots there!
Anyway, I totally fell back in love with this highlighter in October! I used it every time I wore makeup and it’s so beautiful. This is a highlighter that you could easily overdo, but if you just tap your brush a couple of times then it’s a gorgeous sheen that isn’t like BAM!
ESTEE LAUDER DOUBLE WEAR INSTANT FIX CONCEALER – £25 from Look Fantastic
I’m aware Double Wear has been out for a million years, but I could never find a shade pale enough for my skin. The normal Double Wear concealer in 0.5N is too yellowy and dark for me, however the Instant Fix Concealer in 0.5N is lighter and more neutral.
I thought the hydra prep end would be a bit gimmicky, but I actually love it! I don’t use this concealer under my eyes, I use it on spots, but I put the hydra prep on my eyes, then use my IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye on top and it stays smooth and crease free all day. It really does manage to keep your under eyes hydrated all day!
Now for the concealer, I really love this – it covers really well, it’s not full coverage, but it does a good job of covering my spots and it wears really well. It barely needs any re-blending throughout the day. It doesn’t sink into pores or cake up and I’ve found myself gravitating towards it every time I wear makeup. Definitely a repurchase for me!
NARS AUDACIOUS LIPSTICK IN APOLINE – £26 from Debenhams
I adore the Nars Audacious formula, it’s super creamy and pigmented and they last really well for a normal lipstick. Apoline is one of my favourite shades for Autumn. It’s a dark pinky/red which pulls slightly more red on me. However, it’s really wearable, so many times I’ve bought a colour like this and it looks awful on me!
I have loads of the Nars Audacious lipsticks and when it gets colder outside, this is always the colour I end up pulling out!
FENTY BEAUTY PRO FILT’R HYDRATING PRIMER – £24 from Boots
I cannot sing the praises of this primer enough! I wrote a whole review on it and the love affair continues! I haven’t touched another primer since I fell in love with this one! I NEVER thought that I would find a primer better than the Hourglass Veil, but this one is.
Every single foundation I put over this primer looks stunning. I’ve actually tried foundations that I wasn’t sure about on top of this and really liked them. I want back ups of this and I want to be buried with it because it’s fabulous. ZERO dry flakes with this primer and it holds onto your foundation all day without fail!
HADA LABO GOKU-JYUN HYALURONIC ACID LOTION – £10.92 from YesStyle
This range of skincare is one of my absolute favourites for lightweight hydration. I use the moisturising milk every morning and I’ve started using this lotion in place of my toner. In K-beauty, a lotion goes after a toner and is applied in “skins” which is where you pat a layer on, let it absorb, then pat another layer of the lotion on, then let that absorb, then apply another and so on. At least I think that’s right… I’m not an expert in Korean/Japanese skincare.
So, technically this isn’t a toner, however, it’s been working fabulously as a toner for me. This time of year my skin normally throws a fit and becomes a dry, sore, flaky mess. However, if I use full on oils and heavy creams it will rebel and erupt in cystic acne. I’ve found in the last couple of years if I start using lots of thin hydrating products I can keep the flakes at bay and my skin stays pretty balanced.
I also have to be careful not layering up too many products on my skin as it doesn’t like that either. Which is why I’m using this in place of a toner, so I can still keep my routine simple, but get that extra hydration. When I used to use this after a toner my skin did not love it as much as it does now.
IT COSMETICS HEAVENLY LUXE FRENCH BOUTIQUE BLUSH BRUSH – £29 from Boots
I’ve wanted to try an IT Cosmetics brush for years, they are a bit pricey, but I’ve heard great things about them. I saw one of my favourite Youtubers using this brush a few weeks back and it looked amazing. It looked different to all of my other blush brushes and I knew I had to try it.
It’s beautiful! It applies blush evenly, but smoothly and almost in an airbrushed way. There are no harsh lines and it’s great for those darker colours as it doesn’t dump colour anywhere.
Now I have this brush, I really want to try more IT Cosmetics brushes because this one is great!
