First of all, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your kind words re my living with chronic pain post. I am completely overwhelmed and have cried at many of your comments because I really feel like I’m not alone and I do have support.
Sharing my story has definitely helped me feel more positive, it feels like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders and even though I have no relief as yet, I’m feeling mentally stronger and able to continue fighting, so thank you all!! 🙂
This weekend just gone, I went to South Wales to stay in a Yurt with my friends, so it’s high time for another Life Beyond the Kitchen post!
Can we talk about how crazy it is to not have any access to the internet for 4 DAYS.
I was working like mad on Thursday scheduling all sorts of things so that I could go away for the weekend. It was mad. I feel like my blog is my baby and to be away from it for 4 days was just weird.
(Yea I missed the dog and my OH too.)
I mean, it’s great that you can schedule things, but trying to make sure I remembered everything was hard enough. Then I thought about all the emails I’d come back to. Hundreds. Utter madness.
God help me if I decide to go away for more than a week! :O
Please tell me I’m not the only one who had to go and Google this when I was first invited?
They’re like tents, but big and round and they have wool lining, a log burner and some sort of wooden structure inside.
So camping for people like me, who don’t like camping.
There was a block with toilets, showers and a kitchen area, so we did have facilities, but midnight runs to the loo were still a bit chilly and dark!
Although the car still looked like I was going away for a week. I have an inability to pack light. Most of the stuff just went on a journey to Wales and back, but hey-ho.
It was BEAUTIFUL!
We went to Monmouth to a lovely little coffee shop where I had a Pumpkin Spice Latte made with actual pumpkin!
On Saturday we went to Ross-On-Wye and I had another coffee. Obviously. Little addict over here 😉
This time I had a Mint Mocha! It was so refreshing as well as the coffee hit haha!
Saturday was the busiest day by far! We went all the way from South Wales to the Malvern Hills in Worcestershire!
I kind of wish I’d been able to take more of the surroundings in, but I was driving! It’s so pretty; the rivers and hills, and the roads are so nice to drive as they’re all twisty! These are the sorts of roads bikers love; but I hope they are aware that if they are involved in an accident, they may want to contact a motorcycle accident lawyer!
First up on Saturday morning was a trip to Tintern Abbey. It was surrendered to King Henry VIII in 1536 and although it’s a shell of what it once was, it’s still gorgeous to look at and so were the surroundings!
Whilst we did stop in other little towns, our next destination was the Malvern Hills to enjoy the lovely sandwiches we picked up at Truffles Deli in Ross-On-Wye. I had Salami with red onion and mozzarella, which isn’t something I’d normally go for, but it was AMAZING!
Coupled with this view, it was a pretty awesome lunch.
Saturday evening included good food, drinks and a catch up with my friends before getting an early night, so we could be ready to leave at 9am Sunday!
Our final destination was the National Diving & Activity Centre so my friends could do Zip-wire while I watched and took pictures. It did look amazing, you zip all across the quarry, but I am simply terrified of heights (I can’t even go up a ladder), so it definitely wasn’t for me!!
It was a wonderful, busy weekend, but I have to say I was happy to get home to these two and a toilet in the same building as my bed! 😀
(This photo basically makes my heart explode)
Also in the last few weeks:
My cat decided that paper bags were a great place to sit and that the handles were edible.
I saw the BIGGEST FREAKING LEEKS ever in Tesco – they were 2 feet long. No joke.
And I saw these disco boots from ASOS and my heart jumped a little. I need these in my life. Then I can be like Dorothy.
Here’s what I’ve been making:
Double Chocolate Halloween Bark
That’s all folks!
