Life Beyond The Kitchen {2}

11.7.14 By Annie N

Beyond the Kitchen Logo It’s Friday, which means it’s time for another Life Beyond The Kitchen post!! 🙂

It’s been a busy week, I’ve had so many errands to run in amongst lots of recipe developing. I was hoping for today to be quiet, but no such luck 🙁

I got some test results this week, as we’re trying to find out what is wrong with my stomach; they were normal, but I have another blood test next week so maybe that will shed some light? I’m feeling a little better this week, I’ve managed to eat a few proper meals, but I’m still sticking to a very low sugar diet as when I tried some cake batter and had a few chocolate the other day, I immediately felt awful, which makes me think that sugar may be the culprit. The same happened last week when I ate some icing. With it being almost pure sugar I figured it was a good test to see if I felt bad… And I did! Sharp stabbing pains in the centre of my stomach and the bottom of my tummy gets so bloated, it is so annoying! I’m a baker, I use sugar everyday! :'(

For me, sugary drinks are a weakness, I tend to forget how packed with sugar they are, I don’t really drink fizzy drinks now as I’ve just had to cut them out, if I have one I want another. However, I still love fruit juice, so I’m trying to limit myself to a small glass and I get the half sugar stuff. I always have sugar free squash, but I get bored with it 🙁

Here’s what else I’ve been up to this week:

I’ve heard lots about Barre workouts recently and decided to give it a go myself. I did this Fitness Blender Barre Workout for Home and I now totally get why people are seeing results. 4 days later and I still can’t walk…

It is a killer! But I really enjoyed it, so when my legs stop screaming at me, I’ll definitely be doing it again!

I started work on my eCookbook again!! I decided it was time to get back into it and I’ve started a new notebook just for all my ideas for recipes, notes and recipe developing. At the moment, I’ve written 2 recipes to test and have a list of about 40 things I want to develop!

I was in a really creative mood and just kept coming up with different flavour combinations and different things I want to make, super excited to get started in the kitchen tomorrow with some knockout brownies!

I slow roasted some tomatoes in the oven for the first time. Now I’ll never buy them from the supermarket again. Homemade ones are so much better!

I found the biggest strawberries ever, they were literally the size of my palm. I finished another 1kg punnet of them this week as well and they were delicious. Standard day here.

I saw this on Facebook and had to laugh out loud! All of Me by John Legend is one of my favourite songs ever, but I feel like this about doughnuts too…

I started and finished the new Ben Hope book. Breathtaking. Couldn’t stop reading. If only I didn’t need sleep, I would have finished quicker. I really hope there’s another one, it’s my favourite series ever.
